a former chief of staff to vice-presidents al gore and joe biden. let me read some of his points -- can you elaborate? >> sure. he is not really specifically using this advice for romney or obama, although i have no doubt many of these tips are being passed on to president obama. it is interesting. that was my first short summary of what he has to say. he went into more depth about each one of those things. impressions of the debate are formed very early. in the first half hour. a lot of the reporters will be writing their stories in the first half hour. you need to come out strong. if there is something you want to say, you have to say it right away. you suggest candidates, when they come out to the stage, write down three points they want to make. when you are watching the debates, you see that. talking points in response to any sort of question. the idea of do not debated moderator is do not say, he got more time, i need more time. those things may be true but it doesn't look good. >> are those moments magnified in a nationally televised presidential debate? >> i think everything is. tha

gore or joe biden have charitable contributions of $350 per year. i would not think you could argue that mitt romney has gotten p too muchuffy press. i think his interview on "six"the minutes was pretty good. they ask what your idea of leadership was in that as a nice generic question. i need spirit -- i think there needs to be substantive questions as well. host: i want to make sure that the folks see this a -- in "the washington post" last wemple reported thisric -- guest: there is a danger in a candidate talking about the media bias. the media of will turn around and say you are losing. this is a lot of what we have seen in the last couple of weeks. there was an associated press report that said romney is struggling to exert his influence in the poll. you don't want to get across the idea of losing but this is what happens. the media runs with a poll they are taking and they treat the race like it is over. we are in september. that's what i don't like. people should let this election process conclude before they say is so host: over. next up is silver spring, maryland, go ahead.
